What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Values

Gospel-Centered
It’s all about Jesus

The gospel is the best news in all the world! It is the message of the Bible that God is rescuing sinners by His grace through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Because we believe that the gospel has the power to form and shape every area of our lives, we intend to celebrate the gospel joyfully, dwell on it desperately, proclaim it faithfully, sing about it passionately, and share it with others unashamedly.
Relational Discipleship
We need each other

The Christian life was never meant to be experienced alone. God made us to be in a relationship with Him and with one another as a spiritual family. We believe that doing the Christian life together in community is essential for growing in spiritual maturity and helping others to follow Christ. In our homes, we believe parents are called by God to be the primary disciple-makers of their children, and we want to partner and serve families by coming alongside them to teach their children to love God and others.
Missional Living
We have a purpose

Every follower of Jesus Christ has been given a kingdom purpose in this world. God commissions us to live on mission with Jesus in the workplace, in our community, at the grocery store and everywhere in between. We believe that God wants to pursue others through us as we love and serve like Jesus. We want to do more than just invite people to a church service. Rather, we want to invite and equip the church to go into the world and make a difference for the sake of His Name.
Multiplication
We are a multiplying church

We believe that the multiplying of disciples through the multiplication of churches is God primary plan for reaching the unchurched with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When this church was started in 2017, we hoped to not just start one church but to be a multiplying church, participating in the advancement of the Kingdom of God through disciple-making and church planting efforts-both locally and globally.
Prayer
We are dependent on God

Just as Jesus did nothing of His own accord but rather relied completely on His Father, so must we. Our dependence and desperation for God to work in our lives, our corporate body, and our world is evident in our desire to be a church that is devoted to prayer. Whether it be praising Him for His many blessings, lamenting with Him through our sin and sufferings, or asking Him to accomplish His sovereign purposes, we want the glorious privilege of prayer to be the lifeblood of our church.

Core Beliefs

Cornerstone Church stands in the line of historic Christianity. We affirm and believe the following core, historic beliefs.

There is God who Created Everything.
There is only one true and living God who is the Creator of heaven and earth. He exists eternally in three distinct Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5-6; John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; 1 Timothy 2:5
The Bible is God’s Word to us.
The Bible is God’s written revelation of Himself to mankind. The Scriptures are true, authoritative and sufficient for all matters of life and faith.

Psalm 19:7-11; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
Men and Women are Created in the Image of God.
All people are created by God to bear His image. They are the crowning work of God’s creation worthy of love, dignity, and respect regardless of matters like age, race, gender or class. Because of the fall, all humanity, Christ excluded, is sinful by both birth and action.

Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 7:18; Ephesians 2:1-3
People are in Need of Redemption.
The deserved penalty for sin is physical and spiritual death. All humans are in need of redemption that comes only by the grace of God through Jesus Christ.

Genesis 2:15-17, Genesis 3:19; Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23; James 1:14-15
Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, was born of a virgin and is both fully God and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the sacrificial substitute for mankind, was physically raised form the dead, ascended into heaven, and will one day return.

John 1:1-4, John 14; Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18; Matthew 28:1-20; Acts 1:11; Hebrews 9:28; Revelation 1:7
Jesus is the Only Way to Salvation.
Only through faith in the Person and work of Jesus Christ and repentance from sin can one be reconciled to God and experience true life and joy.

John 3:18, John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:21-26; 1 Timothy 2:5-6
The Church is Christ's Body.
The Holy Spirit immediately places all people who put their faith in Jesus Christ into one united spiritual body, the Church, of which Christ is the head. The ultimate mission of the church is to bring glory to God by making disciples.

Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 12:4-5; Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31
Jesus Christ Will Come Again.
The Scriptures promise that Jesus will one day come again and establish His kingdom. When He returns, there will be a physical resurrection of the dead. Only those who turn from sin and to Jesus in faith and repentance will be raised to eternal reward. Those who do not turn from sin and to Jesus will be raised to eternal punishment.

Daniel 12:2; Matthew 25:31-46; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15

Cornerstone Church’s beliefs are the same as those contained in the Baptist Faith and Message, the confession of faith of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).

“In the essentials unity, in the non-essentials diversity, in all things charity.”
