Kingdom Giving 2020

Ryan Thompson · 12/31/2020

Cornerstone Faith Family,

In a year that can only be described as unexpected weirdness, YOU - Cornerstone Faith Family - were amazing! You have helped carry out the mission of our church to make known Jesus in all His glory in Mid-County and around the world. From the Middle East to Asia, from Canada to South America, Cornerstone partners with missionaries to share Christ and help meet needs.

Below is a summary of the year end 2020 Kingdom Giving as prayed and agreed upon by the Financial Stewardship Team. Please be reminded that this Kingdom Giving represents funds given to advance the gospel above and beyond the budgeted 2020 funds. It's because you give generously throughout the year that we are able to give more and accomplish more than even planned!

  • Missionaries serving in India through the International Mission Board - $12,000
  • Missionary partners in North Africa - $3,000
  • Missionaries Rafael & Sarah in Vancouver - $3,000
  • Missionaries Brent & Savannah in Port Arthur - $3,000
  • Missionary partners in Jordan - $3,000
  • Acts 29 Network to plant more churches globally - $3,000
  • Houston Church Planting Network to fund church planting efforts in the greater Houston Area - $2,000
  • Community Care Prayer & Outreach - $2,000
  • Pine Grove Baptist Church to aid in hurricane relief - $1,000
  • Providence Baptist Church Beaumont to assist in building project - $1,000
  • Hope Women's Resource Clinic - $1,000
  • YoungLife Mid-County - $1,0000

This is a note from our missionary partner Rafael after receiving this surprise year end gift...."Brother we received an email from SEND Network reporting an offering from you guys! I have no words, thank you very much!!!!!! This offering came in at an outstanding time. Thank you!!!!"

Here is another note from one missionary family in India that received a donation from Cornerstone Church..."We are so thankful for the gifts from you and Cornerstone Church. I'll be posting an update soon, but after tracking the work in 2020, we have identified 18 people groups engaged with the good news, 2,015 new believers, and 166 new house groups started! Praise the Lord for what He is doing even in the midst of a pandemic!" -- Brad Kinsley

The numbers are impressive but they fail to tell the entire story. From 2019 to 2020, Cornerstone has increased its Kingdom Giving 25%. At a time when so many churches, ministries and non-profits were unable to meet their budgets, you gave faithfully, cheerfully and generously to share Christ and help others. Thank you for your intentional and sacrificial giving.

You remind your missionary partners of Paul's praise for the church at Philippi in Philippians 4:14-20 in which God's Word says: "Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen."

Moving forward let us continue to be purposeful by working together to build Christ's Kingdom. Be prepared to pray more, extend more of His grace to others and share more boldly. May we increase our vision of helping others to match our dying world's increasing need of the truth of God in Christ.

For His Glory among all nations,

Brent Sorrels, Pastor of Worship & Global Disciple-Making
